THUMB RULE
The thumb rule is used for analysis direction of magnetic lines of a current carrying conductor.
EXPLANATION :
Consider a wire and allows a current through it then an unvisible magnetic lines are formed around it, to know the direction just place your thumb in the direction of current the remaining fingers shows the magnetic field lines direction.
